Karen trained at the London College of Printing before developing her skills working in a number of leading design consultancies, such as Carroll and Dempsey and The Partners.
In 1988, she set up her own company, Karen Wilks Associates and her publishing clients include Debrett’s, Laurence King, Merrell and Thames & Hudson. Her work for UK public bodies includes catalogues, promotion and way-finding systems for clients such as Imperial War Museum, The National Railway Museum and The Royal Mail.
Karen’s work is typified by clear, thoughtful typography, ranging from traditional to modernist, to suit the application. Her typographic skills are particularly suited to editorial design, her previous career having also given her a firm grounding in branding and promotional graphics.
Karen has received a number of awards for her work, including from D&AD, the ISTD (Certificate of Typographic Excellence) and Donside.
